Today, we’re launching our Token Management API, which allows you to easily manage the lifecycle of card tokenizations, including:
- Activating tokens
- Deactivating tokens
- Pausing tokens
- Unpausing tokens
- Resending activation codes
- Updating digital card art
The Token Management API can be used with digital wallets and merchant tokens, and we are offering this for both Visa and Mastercard.
Benefits of the Token Management API
- Programs can more easily service cardholder requests relating to their tokenized cards (e.g., activating their digital wallet card in the case where additional cardholder authentication is needed)
- Programs can better manage potential fraud on tokenized cards (e.g. cardholder lost their device and wants to ensure no transactions happen via a digital wallet)
How the Token Management API Works
Use our new Token Management API to request a change to a token. Aa successful response means that the request was delivered to the card network. For token status updates, when the card network makes the change to the token, Lithic will be notified, the token will be updated in Lithic’s system, and a tokenization.updated event will be created. Card programs can subscribe to the event via the Events API as a confirmation that the status request was processed successfully.
This new API will have six endpoints for the key functions, detailed below.
